A new report titled “The Thriving Coastal Communities Initiative: Towards an action research agenda focused on well-being in coastal communities in British Columbia” has been produced in a group effort between T.Buck Suzuki Environmental Foundation and OceanCanada‘s Dr. Nathan Bennett, as well as a large team of collaborators. Support for convening the initial meeting at the University of British Columbia came from the Vancouver Foundation.
The report examines, from the perspective of workshop participants, questions related to the status of well-being in coastal communities, the changes that they are experiencing, the actions they are taking to respond to change and promote local well-being, and priority action research topics related to coastal community well-being in British Columbia. This is the first step in a longer project for which the group are still developing partnerships, prioritizing future directions, and seeking funding. Stay tuned!
